NEW MEMBER CONTEST
Lion Don Pearson presented the New Members Quick Start Guide which is now available. The comment was made that current members may also learn something by reading it! Also, any changes or suggestions are welcome.
The three Team Captains for our New Member Contest are: Dave Hoover, Anita Jackson, and Tom Spencer. Their team members are selected, lists distributed, and various threats issued --- watch out everyone - no rules! Potential members are welcome at any meeting and their first two meeting dinners are on the club as well as their Induction Night dinner. Lion Dave also suggested that our Steak Fry be a Membership Meeting.
W O W ! FABULOUS CORN FEED
We were blessed with good weather, making all our hard work pay off once again. We had a bit of rain real early in the day and then a short cloud burst in the middle of the Corn Feed which did not deter the crowd a bit. The sun came out, the wind died down, and the crowd was large.
Because of the good attendance and popularity the Corn Feed is enjoying, we continue to need more helpers - especially in the booths to relieve others in the mid afternoon. This has been a growing problem that will have to be addressed and more workers actually scheduled in time slots at specified booths ahead of time. Most booths were running well, but I was unable to find relief for tired workers in a couple of places.
Ben's Hot Country Karaoke was a HIT!
Thanks to Lion Russ Thompson for suggesting it and thanks to our Star Singer Lion Jerry Feucht for hosting the contest and for singing so well. Great to see more crowd involvement there.
CORN FEED WRAP UP MEETING
Please bring your success stories, along with your ideas for improvements to the Wrap Up Meeting at 5:30 pm on Monday 9/12. We'll conclude this year's big event before our regular meeting.
NIGHT OUT
Our first Night Out was well attended. We met at Fisherman's Bay on Aug. 18th and many of us enjoyed their BBQ Rib special. Our original idea of Bann's (in last newsletter) was tabled for quieter winter months when their Friday crowd is less.
SUNSHINE CORNER
Please keep in prayers: Lions Bernie Touhey, Bob Guntzburger, Keith Verthein, Darlene Erickson, Evelyn Swedberg, and also Luke Sorenson. |
