MID WINTER CONVENTION

Eleven McGregor Lions attended this year's convention in Mahnomen at Shooting Star Casino.  It was well worth the trip.  We had two Lions remembered at the Friday evening memorial service:  Lions Marty Berg and Paul Johnson.

This is a beautiful service.

The sessions were informative and moving.  Several of us especially appreciated all the work done with Leader and Service Dogs.  Can-Do Canines (New Hope MN) is doing a lot with service dogs, reaching out to many in need, including children with autism.  At the end of Sunday's program, the Int'l Director presented a pin to our own Lion Don Pearson for his work increasing membership.

The entertainment was varied . . . where else can you see a synchronized swim team on stage, a talented hypnotist putting Robin to sleep in the audience and causing another of our group to drive a car on stage (& other things!)?  Also, one certain past-president of our group can sure sing into a beer bottle well!?!  Hmmm.   Fun times.

CHARTER NIGHT

District Governor Bruce Beck and First Lady Lion Erin Beck were our special guests at our January 23rd meeting.  Also, we were honored that the Palisade and Aitkin Lions Clubs had members present for this special evening.

DG Bruce spoke of his theme "I Believe" having been inspired by the large scope of Lions' work, since we are the largest service organization in the world, 1-1/2 million strong.  Our club presented a check to DG Bruce for $1,000 for Can-Do Canines.

DG Bruce inducted two new members, LeRoy and Betty Jo Johnson who were sponsored by Lion Carole Holten.  Also, Lion Pam Hoover received her 5 year pin, and it was announced that 37 McGregor Lions have earned perfect attendance awards.

The prestigious Melvin Jones Award was presented by our District Governor to:  Lions Jerry Feucht and Walt Ford.  In addition, DG Bruce presented a District 5M-9 Governor's Commendation to Lions Don & Robin Pearson for their dedication to Lions & community.
